My Review of this book: This may be my favorite Kristin Hannah book followed closely by The Women. I experienced a wide range of emotions from this book even tears. It truly takes you to the desperate times during the evolution of WWII. This book follows two sisters that lead very different lives just trying to survive in their new normal ever-changing lives in France when the Germans are evading and take pieces of the land and souls everyday. Each sister does unthinkable things during these desperate times just to survive even cross lines that you think are possible. This book shows you that even one person can make a difference, by either following the rules are rebelling. Living on the edge and risking their lives to save others. The heart warming book takes you back in time and shows you a glimpse of the war that isn’t talked about, the normal everyday person just fighting to survive another day when the world looks black. Don’t let the 440 pages scare you, you will be gripping each one and fighting to continue. Make sure you finish it because there is a heartfelt ending that had me in tears.
